Grafitrunes famous quotes! Monday, April 13th, 2009

As you might have noticed, my quote page grafitrunes.info is dead. ( I forgot to renew the domain). I’ll probably not register it again, but here comes the quotes, one final time! They’re in Swedish, but enjoy!

  • Cisco stödjer inte SNMP då de har utökat standarden
  • 802.1q är så mycket mer än VLAN

I got a phone call from my mom this afternoon telling me that my old teacher in IT Security had just been on the radio. He’s one of the mysteries in the world, a teacher in IT Security, but listed as a plumber in the phone book…

This probably answers some of the untold mystery of how he can teach IT Security whilst not having a clue what so ever about the subject. He also had courses in communications and server management, where he stated that 802.1q vlans are not stable enough to be used in a production environment.. Anyone not using 802.1Q in their environment? Raise a hand…

The interview is in Swedish and so is my fan site… Here are some URL’s for you.

This guy is definitely a big laugh… no wonder the kids of today are useless… ;)

Back to school Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I did my last day at optinet last friday, and today was the first day in school, Rune was brilliant as allways. ;) (I once again absolutely neeed to plug my fan site). At least I’m free from those windows systems once again. :) This summer has made me appriciate Unix so much more than before… Now I indeed know how bad the “other side” is.

Goin back to school soon. Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Oh well, soon it’s over for this time, been doing practical training on an ISP since January. Juust one week left now. Oh well, at least I will get some new materials for grafitrunes.info. I wonder what we will be learning this semester.

The past months has been fun, stressing and a bit aggravating. We did manage to build a new server room during these months though. Not bad at all! ;) Why does construction involve so much heavy stuff? The raised flooring and racks were killing me. I’m lucky I escaped the 300Kg Air Conditioner. Knowing that my mates had to wrestle that beast into place made my morning coffee taste so much better.

I wonder when I will find the 10 minutes I need to move my blog to my “real” server. ;) It aint easy being a lazyslackerbum. Oh, well. Next time my home internet connection goes down, I’ll be sure to move it.

Here we go again Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

I had this semesters first computer communication class today. Our teacher is well, special. He has no idea what so ever about how to design networks or use them for that matter. We spent the day talking about improving network performance. The network consisted of a gigabit hub (?????), a 10/100 switch, a router and a server.

His ideas consisted of replacing DNS with the hosts file and adding a static arp mapping to the default gateway. How on earth is that going to make any noticable difference? When I suggested he’d get rid of the hub, he stated that the network will be 512 times slower with a switch rather than a hub. And the main use of VLANs is to get shorter ARP tables. Gooood teacher! ;)

First day in school Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Yay, started school again today. We spent the day reasoning about backup strategies and then implementing them using xcopy. So that’s four hours down the drain. Maybe I will learn something useful in school one day. Today was obviously not that day.

For those of you who don’t know where I study… I study Computer Security at Studium here in gothenburg. They kind of set the tone with the first couple of courses, web design and javascript programming. At least it keeps us away from the streets. ;)
